Football Club de Metz was founded on 23 March 1932 through the amalgamation of two amateur clubs in Lorraine, making it one of the oldest professional football clubs in France. Its roots reach back to SpVgg Metz, formed in 1905 when the city was part of the German Empire. The club played in the second division from 1933, won that league in 1935 and reached the top flight for the first time. During the Second World War, with the Moselle annexed, it played as FV Metz in the Gauliga Westmark and finished runner-up in each of the three completed seasons from 1941 to 1944. Metz have never won the French top flight but have taken the Coupe de France twice and the Coupe de la Ligue twice. Home matches are played at the Stade Saint-Symphorien.

A small listing, spread thin across four decades

There are only around twenty items here, running from 1988–91 to the current season, with the 1990s and 2000s the best represented. That thinness is the honest picture: Metz is not a club whose old kit circulates widely on the second-hand market.

Home shirts dominate

Well over half the listing is home shirts, with a few third and away shirts and a single training top. Two items are marked Match Issue — prepared for a specific fixture rather than sold in the club shop — and two are Authentic, the player-specification cut. One 1996–97 entry is a shirt and shorts sold together. Condition grades run from 5/10 to 9/10 with a typical item around 6/10, and prices are moderate, with the 1980s and early 1990s shirts the most expensive.
