Edgar Davids was born on 13 March 1973 in Paramaribo, Suriname, and grew up in the Netherlands. Nicknamed The Pitbull for his tackling, he started at Ajax, then played for AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona on loan in 2004, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax again and finally Crystal Palace, retiring at 37. He was capped 74 times by the Netherlands, scored six goals, and played at the 1998 World Cup and three European Championships in 1996, 2000 and 2004. He was instantly recognisable on the pitch for his dreadlocks and the protective goggles he wore because of glaucoma, and in 2012 he became player-manager of Barnet.
The listing is short and covers only part of his career. Most items are Netherlands shirts numbered 8, followed by Tottenham Hotspur shirts numbered 5 from the 2006–07 season, plus a single Juventus shirt. His Ajax, AC Milan, Barcelona and Inter years are not represented. The national-team shirts group tightly around the 2000–02, 2002–04 and 2004–06 kits.
Among the listings is a match-issue Netherlands under-21 shirt from 1993, one of the oldest and most expensive pieces here, and an A3 career print rather than a garment. Everything else is a shirt, split roughly evenly between home and away, with one marked Player Issue — squad specification rather than retail. Condition grades run from 4/10 to 10/10, with most items around 8/10.
