Japan, known as Samurai Blue, are run by the Japan Football Association. The national side was largely amateur until the late 1980s, when football trailed baseball and sumo in popularity at home. Since the sport turned fully professional in the early 1990s Japan have qualified for every World Cup from 1998 onwards and reached the knockout stage in 2002, 2010, 2018, 2022 and 2026 — more than any other Asian team. They have not received a single red card at a World Cup since their debut, a world record, and they hold a record four Asian Cup titles, won in 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2011.
This is what sets the Japan listing apart. Around a quarter of everything here is marked Player Issue or Authentic — squad-specification kit rather than the replica sold in shops, with a closer cut and lighter fabric. Very few national-team listings on this site are weighted that way. Home shirts are still the largest group overall, with away shirts, track jackets, tees and goalkeeper shirts behind them.
Stock runs from the early 1990s to the current season, with the 2000s and 2010s by far the best covered. Printed shirts recur for Nakata at 7, Nakamura at 10, Ono at 18, Honda at 4 and Nagatomo at 5, which is a quick way to date an item if the season is unclear. Basic marks a cheaper retail version of the same design, and women’s-team shirts are listed separately from the men’s. Condition grades run from 3/10 to 10/10 with a typical item around 7/10.
